Spotify has racked up 100m paying subscribers for the first time, up 32pc on the year and almost twice the latest figures for Apple Music. Revenue was boosted 33pc to 1.5bn euros (£1.3bn) as the total number of paying subscribers jumped from 75m the previous year. Spotify expects its premium members to total between 107m and 110m by the end of June. Almost a half of Spotify’s paying subscribers are based in Europe, while 30pc are based in North America. The company has tallied up over 2m users in India since its launch there two months ago.
