[Jonah Onyango, Standard]Social media has been set abuzz following war of words between Football Kenya Federation boss Nick Mwendwa and SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri. Consequently, the league will now be known as BetKing Premier League, after a statement made on Twitter by Mwendwa on Wednesday, July 15. In response, the FKF boss dismissed Karauri’s comment, saying Kenyan football supported Sportpesa even when they went to sponsor other teams abroad. We have moral obligation to discourage betting & gambling companies in poor countries. SportPesa halted operations in Kenya and expressed disappointment with the 20 per cent excise tax on all betting stakes.
