JAMIE CARRAGHER was forced to make a grovelling apology on Sky News yesterday after being caught on camera spitting at a 14-year-old girl. A motorist had filmed himself goading the ex-Liverpool star after the side’s defeat to Manchester United on Saturday. In the clip published by the Daily Mirror, Carragher — driving alongside — is seen to be spitting towards the teenage girl in the car. ‘I’m getting vilified and rightly so because if someone in a game had done that I’d have vilified them for the next few days. Sky Sports said it takes the matter ‘extremely seriously’ and added Carragher’s actions fell ‘well below the standards we expect’.
