Of all the smaller brands I tried this year, one big standout for me was Hudson Whiskey, mainly because everything they make is good, across the board. I loved the signature product, Baby Bourbon, so called because it originally came in distinctive 375 ml bottles. The distillery sends used Baby Bourbon casks to a maple syrup tapper to age his syrup. It’s a great gift for maple syrup lovers who still want something tasty after breakfast hour is passed. But my favorite, along with wonderful Baby Bourbon, is the Manhattan Rye, a high percentage rye (90%) done in pre-Prohibition-style using local grains.
