A spate of weekend family violence incidents in South Canterbury has prompted calls for people suffering its consequences to seek professional help. During the past weekend, from December 2-4, 16 family violence incidents were reported to police across South Canterbury. John Bisset Acting family violence response co-ordinator, senior constable Paul Hampton said people needed to talk honestly about the impact family violence was having on them, their children and their families. Mytchall Bransgrove Mid-South Island Women's Refuge manager Dawn Rangi-Smith, encouraged those affected by family violence to seek help.
