A new proposal would see the speed limit on the road drop from 70kmh to 60kmh. Speeds around the Massey side of the Fitzherbert Bridge are likely to be lowered to a uniform 60kmh in a review of the Palmerston North City Council's Speed Limits Bylaw. A more significant change would be to drop the speed limit on Tennent Drive past Massey University from 70kmh to 60kmh. In total, speed limits are likely to be reduced on about 20 roads or stretches of roads around the edges of Palmerston North. The council is also considering a further review of speed limits.
