Special task force formed to look into 1MDB - Nation


PETALING JAYA: A special task force headed by former Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail and three other leaders has been formed to investigate 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). The task will include Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull, former MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed and former Special Branch deputy director Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in a statement on Monday (May 21) added that the task force will include personnel from the MACC, Attorney-General’s Chambers, Bank Negara, police along with lawyers specialised in this area of law. “This special task force will be responsible on all aspects of the investigation, from financial tracking and asset acquisition which resulted from the mismanagement of 1MDB funds that are kept or invested in the country or abroad,” it said. PMO added the task force will also be responsible for obtaining the cooperation of various enforcement agencies in the United States, Switzerland, Singapore, Canada, and other related countries.
