Special Branch to share intel on 1MDB

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal police Special Branch (SB) Department is ready to assist other departments within the force and related enforcement agencies on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) investigation. Besides the 1MDB case, the SB will also share intelligence findings to help resolve other misappropriation cases. The department's director, Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador, said he will place a reminder to all SB officers to discharge their responsibilities in line with the provisions of the existing laws. Abdul Hamid, who has served the force for 37 years, was transferred out from Bukit Aman to the Prime Minister’s Department in 2015 at the height of the investigations into the 1MDB scandal, in the past administration. He was appointed as the new SB chief today to replace Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff who is set to retire in September.
