KOTA KINABALU: A bid to remove Datuk Lajim Ukin (Parti Harapan - Klias) as the state Opposition leader in the Sabah Legislative Assembly has been shot down. State assembly speaker Datuk Syed Abas Syed Ali announced at the beginning of the four-day sitting that Lajim would remain as Opposition leader. When met outside the House later, Lajim said the appointment of an Opposition leader was at the discretion of the Speaker. "There is no mention of the Opposition leader post in the Standing Order so the decision as to who is the Opposition chief is completely in his hands," he said. "Just wait," was all Edwin said when asked about reports of his intention to quit DAP and sign up with PCS.
