Tarique Mahmud, director (Public Relations 1) of the parliament, confirmed the matter in a statement issued on Thursday. The speaker also approved the Jatiya Party Co-chairman GM Quader as the opposition party’s deputy leader. Jatiya Party obtained 22 seats in the parliament, and is the party with the second- highest amount of seats. It was a member of the Awami League-led Grand Alliance during the 11th general election.
