Crews from the Harewood and Wigram fire stations attended the suspicious fire at Avonhead Cemetery about 8.15pm. It comes after concerns were raised on Wednesday over people and property being put at risk from stolen vehicles which have been dumped then set alight in Canterbury. Said fire risk management officer Kerri Pring: "There is absolutely a fire risk and they are a risk to people." Just last week, firefighters in Christchurch were called on to put out four suspicious vehicle fires in two days. It means no fires are permitted unless it is an approved fire type for cooking purposes.
