The company pointed the finger at network company Chorus, saying the faults were being caused by water damage to Chorus' copper network. The "sad reality" was that Chorus' network was "many decades old and highly vulnerable to wet weather", Spark said in a statement. "Chorus' copper network is of a high quality and provides a fantastic service to millions of people every day. Beattie rejected the claim that the age of its copper network was a factor.
