Crashing his bike turned into the least of Spanish rider Aron Canet’s worries during qualifying for the final race of the Moto2 World Championship season in Portugal on Sunday (NZ time). After taking a tumble at turn eight on the Algarve International Circuit in Portimão, the 21-year-old was left skidding down the track in the face of sparks from his machine. Canet was able to remount, ride back to the pits and ultimately set a time good enough to place him 15th of 29 for Monday morning’s (NZ time) race. Canet finished second overall in his fourth year in the Moto3 World Championship last year and sits 12th in his debut season in Moto2.
