Spanish judge calls female Pit Bull as witness in an animal abuse trial against its former owner

A judge has called a female Pit Bull to the stand as a witness in an animal abuse trial against its former owner who is accused of locking the adorable dog in a suitcase and throwing it in the rubbish. According to local media, Judge Sandra Barrera at Penal Court 1 in the city of Santa Cruz, Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, stunned attendees when she called 'the damaged witness, the dog called Milagros'. Prosecutor Francisca Sanchez told the court 'obviously, the witness cannot talk' before a forensic doctor explained to the judge the injuries it had suffered. The defendant, identified as Sergio M.J., is accused of locking the dog in a suitcase and throwing it into a wheelie bin. He admitted to throwing the dog in the rubbish back in October 2012, but claimed that he did so because he thought the Pit Bull had died.
