Southlanders honoured at Local Hero awardsJohn Hawkins/Stuff Local Heroes, Hamish McMurdo, Bronwyn Grant, Meggy Bartlett-McBride, Maureen Jones, Helen McKay, Robyn Guyton, Janice Lee, Bernadette Hunt, Aileen McNaughton, and Shelley Lithgow. Ten Southlanders have been honoured for the selfless, optimistic and generous things they do for their community at the Kiwibank Local Hero Awards. Across the country, 340 people have been named local heroes. One person will be named the Local Hero winner at the New Zealander of the Year gala awards in Auckland, in February. We think it's important for us to give thanks to these people and that's why we sponsor the Local Hero Awards."
