Winton volunteer firefighter Guy Johnstone will be taking part in the Sky Tower 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in Auckland on September 11. Johnstone’s commitment to help fundraising events has seen him compete in five Firefighter Sky Tower Stair Challenges in Auckland. “Dad’s beaten it [cancer] twice, and it’s important to me to support the challenge,” Johnstone said. Each firefighter involved in the memorial event will dedicate their climb to one of the New York firefighters who died. The week before the memorial, Johnstone and Winton fire chief Stephen Milne will be involved in another fundraising event, the Southern Scooter Challenge.
