Southland Sri Lankan society gathers in solidarity for Christchurch


A special service combining several religious dominations came together in Invercargill on Sunday to gather in solidarity for the muslims in Christchurch. The Southland Sri Lankan Society invited members of muslim, buddhism and catholic religions to gather as one for a combined ceremony. Robyn Edie/Stuff The Southland Sri Lankan Society held a religious ceremony involving Muslim, Buddhist and Catholic priests at the Wat Buddha Samakhee Buddhist Temple at Lorneville, Invercargill on Sunday. Reverend of the Catholic Diocese Church in Dunedin, Jacob Thevasahayampillai, said three out of the four main religions are represented at ceremony. "We want want exercise our solidarity with our muslim brothers and sisters and we will continue to support them in anyway possible," Rev Thevasahayampillai said.
