A Southland food bank was only meant to run for two years. At this time the Southland Food Bank was formed. Southland Food Bank Charitable Trust chairman Peter Swain says food parcels are designed to last a week and depending on people's circumstances, most receive four a year. Swain believes the Southland Food Bank can cope with food parcel demands for the next two years.
