Southern farmers host cooking evenings


Cooking evenings for farmworkers has got to a flying start with 11 land workers taking up the challenge. The idea was initiated by the Clifden branch of the Rural Women New Zealand group when a Primary Industry Training Organisation Representative talked to their group. Clifden Rural Women President Lynley Whyte said they believe the cooking evenings are the first of their kind to be held in the South Island; however the North Island has been holding cooking evening for farmworkers. Wairaki Station Owners Trudy and Richard Slee said the idea of the cooking seasons are great. The cooking evenings are held at the Wairaki Station in Blackmount with four sessions held on Wednesday starting at 6.30pm.
