New Southern District Health Board chairman Dave Cull says achieving financial stability is the board's number one priority. The Southern District Health Board (DHB) is conducting a review of its remuneration policy for senior medical officers. The review would ensure "equity and consistency across the board," but the Southern DHB would also need to account for its ballooning wage bill, Cull said. The Southern DHB has blamed wage increases implemented after strikes for the unexpected costs. The Ministry of Health has already confirmed it will give the Southern DHB more money to compensate for the industrial action, he said.
