In the early morning hours, David Demshki and his wife Christy Harris drove to Oak View from their Oxnard home to rescue three horses from their ranch. Their horses, along with 20 or 30 others, were boarded at their property, which sits close to where the Thomas fire jumped Highway 33. “I’ve never seen anything like this,” Demshki said as he pet one of his horses, Gentleman Johnny Walker. Matt Funderburk left his home in Ojai early Tuesday afternoon after getting a phone call from his wife, Betsy. His wife plans on going to work with him because they can’t go home.
