Despite his bravery, Brooks was forced to come off the pitch and his day at Wembley was over with Southampton leading 1-0. Saints boss Russell Martin made the decision to take the former Sheffield United star off and replace him with Samuel Edozie. Southampton had gone a goal ahead through Adam Armstrong earlier in the contest after being fed through by Will Smallbone. And that strike from Armstrong was enough to lead Southampton back to the Premier League after one year in the Championship.
