KORONADAL CITY, Philippines —A barangay chairman in Polomolok, South Cotabato was shot dead on New Year’s Eve at the town’s public market. ADVERTISEMENTPolice said after shooting, the gunman walked away and boarded a motorcycle being driven by his cohort. Capellan said Nilong was alone when the incident happened in front of several people who were then doing their rush-hour shopping. Recovered at the scene were four spent caliber .45 shells. Nilong, a Muslim, was immediately buried after the shooting by his relatives according to Islamic rites.
