South Auckland advocates cry foul as liquor stores keep getting approved

Community calls for DLC commissioner to step downFor the last seven years Communities Against Alcohol Harm (CAAH) has been fighting against the opening of liquor stores in South Auckland. A Thirsty Liquor store on Wickman Way has just had its licence renewal application approved, despite objections from the community. In a 2019 letter to Auckland Council, Auckland Regional Public Health Service director Dr William Rainger asked that Fraser's appointment to the DLC be "revoked". Fraser declined to comment when contacted for this story, instead referring enquiries to Auckland Council.
