press releaseDepartment to create more jobs through Community and Expanded Public Works ProgrammeOver 19 000 job opportunities will be created through the Community Works Programme (CWP) and Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) in this financial year marking an increase of 1000 jobs from 18 000 jobs created in the last financial year (2016/2017). Announcing the department's budget for the year, the MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements in Bokone Bophirima, Galaletsang Gaolaolwe said over R2,4 million has been budgeted to implement the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) to alleviate poverty and to provide income through temporary employment. "The community works programme which is an innovative offering from government meant to provide job safety net for unemployed people of working age is bearing fruit. Kgetleng Rivier, Mahikeng, Maquassie-Hills, Mamusa and Tswaing local municipalities, at a cost of R7 million and it will further create employment in Villages, Townships and Small Dorpies.
