Things look a little different at the Wildwood Soup Kitchen for Thanksgiving, including the serving style, table decorations and the volunteers who come to help. But the Thursday cook and captain have stayed the same for more than a decade. Diane and Dana McCarthy have spent their Thanksgiving at the Wildwood Soup Kitchen for the last 13 years, with Diane working as cook and Dana leading the charge as captain. “We wanted to base the kitchen off scripture, that was always our driving force,” Dana said. “Sometimes I ask people, ‘Why are you here at the soup kitchen?’ When I ask myself that, I say it is because I was called to.” The cook ensures the meal is planned out and prepared properly with the help of other volunteers.
