Sorry Theresa May, But Support For Free Trade Has 'Eroded'


U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May gave a U.N. speech about the wonders of free trade and globalization yesterday, and she gave it to a half empty room. For decades, support for what we call free trade has been eroding among the electorate. Even if she did a slight about-face on TPP, she was not as much of a free trade advocate as her husband, President Bill Clinton, who gave us the North American Free Trade Agreement. Free trade was for a free people and anti-free trade is, well, undemocratic. They are the poster boy of trade, but not free trade, and by Trump and Lighthizer's standards, not fair trade.
