A son writes of his mother's last days of hope and sorrow as she is lost to Covid-19. I have to sign another register, in front of another security guard, before we can enter the closed corridor where Mum's room is. She asks me to ask whether the palliative care team will be involved in Mum's care. Mum's nurse appears and leads me into the ante room where I will dress again in the protective equipment. I have to get out so I can talk to Mum's doctor.
