A former chief of US computer maker Dell in Bangladesh, Sonia was also in charge of Microsoft’s Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan and Laos offices. “I’ve worked with foreign firms, sold foreign software until now. I will change the status quo now,” she said, adding that she would launch a new tech project. Besides working for Microsoft, she established Tech Hubs which works for empowering rural people through technology. She is a vice-chairperson of the United Nations Technology Bank for least developed countries, a member of UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education and Peace, and vice-chairperson of financial technology start-up Dmoney and health start-up Syntec.
