A man appeared in court yesterday accused of killing his mother by dropping her from a care-home balcony. Robert Knight, 52, appeared before magistrates in Southend-on-Sea charged with murdering June Knight, 79, who suffered from Alzheimer’s. He was arrested on Monday night after staff found her body outside Langley Lodge care home in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex. Mr Knight, from Leigh-on-Sea, was a regular visitor to the home, where his mother was receiving end-of-life palliative care. He did not enter a plea during the brief hearing.
