Health Secretary Matt Hancock had boasted about rolling out the biggest flu vaccination programme “in history” but doubts remained over when supplies would be available. However many will not get a letter inviting them to be vaccinated before the flu season is well underway. “The flu season tends to start in December, but vaccination at any point in the season is valuable protection.”GP surgeries and pharmacists traditionally start to offer the jab in late September or early October. The flu season is at its peak between December and February but is in circulation earlier. “GPs and pharmacies will continue to offer regular, timely flu vaccines to eligible groups, making particular efforts to prioritise the most vulnerable.”
