Somaliland: Hybrid water pumps installed at 3 borehole wells

An innovator in Africa’s solar power industry has installed and commissioned an electromechanical system north of Hargeisa City in Somaliland to provide renewable energy-powered water pumps. The three wells supply water to the new Geed Deeble (Somaliland) pumping station. The Geed Deeble area is the first established national Botanic Garden in Somaliland. It is located 25km north of Hargeisa City and harbours old fig trees which botanically indicate the presence of groundwater in the area. More than one million residents of Hargeisa will experience improved access to water, and the WASH sector of Hargeisa and Somaliland at large will improve.
