By end of September, the SNA stated that the allied forces liberated from al Shabaab 40 rural settlements. Al Shabaab fighters who killed him later circulated photos and video clips showing his body as though he were a trophy. Al Shabaab are known to target prominent figures of any community that rebels against it. The gathering masses against al Shabaab have inspired some fighters to quit the terror group.
