The boost in commingled punting from overseas - up 25.3 percent to a record HK$23.5 billion - also contributed to the turnout during the season. Engelbrecht-Bresges said those figures showed the growing global interest in Hong Kong racing. The club said it had paid HK$12.11 billion to the government this season alone as the city's largest taxpayer.
