PETALING JAYA: Two Thai nationals who were caught soliciting donations for a religious school illegally, here, were each slapped with a RM2,300 fine by the magistrate's court today. The duo pleaded guilty to collecting donations for Madrasah Tahfiz Darul Islah without valid licence in front of CIMB Bank in Jalan 52/2, here at about 6pm on Aug 26. Both of them had earlier pleaded leniency saying that they were the sole breadwinners of their family. According to the facts of the case, police saw both accused asking for donation at the place of the incident. Police found that the men were collecting donations without valid permit and found RM2,000 cash, the religious school's receipts and stamp.
