“The Pollanen report has removed any ambiguity as to the cause of death. Three guards were fired in the wake of Faqiri’s death but one was later reinstated. “There is no justification for what was done to (Faqiri),” said Ted Marrocco, another lawyer for the Faqiri family in a statement. “There is no training that authorizes correctional officers to use this kind of violence. “They need to prove to us that there isn’t a special protection, that the system does not protect correctional officers when they break the law.”
