KOTA KINABALU: A soldier was detained on Saturday (Dec 22) for allegedly beating up and raping his girlfriend of four month in Lahad Datu. It is believed that upon meeting up, the soldier, who hailed from Kg Paris 1, Kinabatangan (Sabah’s east coast district) brought her to the Inanam bus station using a cab and got them tickets to Lahad Datu. Lahad Datu police chief Asst Comm Nasri Mansor said that when they reached Lahad Datu, the suspect took the woman to a hotel where he forced her to have sex with him. The victim was sent to the Lahad Datu Hospital for treatment and a police report was lodged at about 3pm on Dec 22. “The suspect was nabbed at about 9pm the same day,” ACP Nasri said, adding the suspect is being investigated for rape.
