Debraj DebAgartala: The Tripura cabinet on Thursday announced increase in solatium for victims of crimes like acid attacks, rape, molestation and trafficking. The cabinet has taken a few decisions for the benefit of tortured women, rape survivors and other victims," he said. It, however, retained the Rs 3 lakh compensation for acid attack victims set by the erstwhile Left Front government. In case of permanent disability, victims will get Rs 2 lakh instead of Rs 50,000. Asked if victims who have sought compensation for previous attacks would be able to avail the revised benefits, the minister said his government would consider all such petitions.
