The Uber IPO may not be a sure bet for investors. And perhaps the rise of these soft bankers is what sunk the Uber IPO last week. Total venture capital investment in the United States last year was US$100 billion. While that's acceptable for early stage companies finding their product-market fit, it's much harder to justify when they are late stage companies. And at the end of the day that's what was missing in the Uber IPO and it cost them.
