Camberos did not comment on the cause of the clash, but said the situation in the prison was under control. Further searches will be conducted at the prison to rule out the presence of additional weapons, Camberos said. The prison holds members of five criminal groups, including the Gulf Cartel, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and the Sinaloa Cartel, Camberos said. At least 16 inmates are dead and 5 injured from a prison riot in Mexico. The year before, at least 50 inmates were killed after a deadly riot in the Topo Chico prison in the city of Monterrey.
