The throng filling the Champ de Mars in Paris this weekend was human, a sea of drunken soccer fans. During a stroll on a rainy evening, Oliver, Ms. Kent’s Yorkie, encountered soccer fans treating the street as a urinal. “Oliver and I can’t go anywhere near the Champ de Mars anymore.”Some soccer fans say they aren’t the ones behaving like animals. Fans on Sunday watched a Euro 2016 soccer tournament match, won by France over Ireland, on large screens set up at Paris’s Champ de Mars park near the Eiffel Tower. Now, she says the fan zone is like a slap across the muzzle.
