The Australian ski season officially starts on Saturday June 10. Opening weekend is usually mostly about the parties but this year it might just be about the sliding too, after good snowfalls on the weekend. Snowmaking has also started at most resorts, and will likely continue all week given the frosty nights forecast. At Perisher, overnight lows this week will dip to minus 7, minus 7, minus 7 again, then to vary things up a little, minus 6. Falls Creek ski resort in Victoria got so excited about the snow, they made a five-minute video which is strangely engaging.
