A dump of snow has come right on time for Cardrona Alpine Resort, which is gearing up for its opening day of the ski season tomorrow. Jen Houltham, from Cardrona, said with more wild weather forecast, the skifield was opening the beginners' area only. "With a decent dump of snow and more on the way, a film launch, and opening day tomorrow, it's been a fun week for our team. The opening comes amid a barrage of weather fronts hitting the whole country, expected to bring storms, gales and low snow over coming days. MetService has issued a raft of weather warnings, including road warnings for southern highways, and heavy snow watches for parts of Otago and Southland.
