It took close to four hours for firefighters to contain an Opotiki house fire in the early hours of Monday morning. Some of those living at the address were taken by St John Ambulance to a nearby hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. "The fire measured 50 meters by 10 meters and half the house was involved when the appliances arrived," she said. "A few of those in the house suffered from smoke inhalation and were taken by St John."
