Smart ambulance project expands nationwideThe Digital Economy Promotion Agency (Depa) and the Public Health Ministry have expanded their "5G Ambulance" digital installation to 124 ambulances nationwide, with the intention to improve emergency medical services for over 170,000 patients a year. Suppakorn Sitthichai, Depa's acting director-general, said the 5G Ambulance project is part of its Smart City plan, which covers 37 locations. As of now, some 40 of more than 10,000 ambulances are part of the project. Mr Supakorn said it expects to add another 84 this year, bringing the total number of smart ambulances to 124, with the capacity to serve 173,600 patients a year. Sariddet Charoenchai, director of the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Public Health Ministry's Bureau of Public Health Emergency Management, said the 5G Ambulance project aims to help tackle a paucity of healthcare access in remote areas as Thailand transitions to an ageing society.
