Small traders demand opening of markets


KARACHI: Small traders have demanded of the Sindh government to allow opening markets as per SOPs agreed upon between them and the government, adding that permission of only online trading is a joke which small traders would not accept. All Pakistan Organization of Small Traders and Cottage Industries (APSTCI) President Mehmood Hamid, addressing a press conference here at Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Saturday, a large number of small traders and workers have already been facing hunger due to continuous closure of markets. He said small traders, shopkeepers, transporters and millions of workforce related to market activities have already been a horrible economic crisis. He said almost 40 days have passed to the closure of markets and small traders could not afford further closure of markets. He said the government should allow them to open all markets as per the settled SOPs and promised that small traders would strictly follow them.
