The blaze ripped through the six-by-six metre shed on Taupahi Rd in Turangi early on Thursday. A grandmother sleeping inside the dual-garage flat woke to hear the fire taking hold, Turangi Fire Chief Tong Kingi said. A grandmother woke to find her sleepout being engulfed in a fire that authorities later deemed to be suspicious. Kingi said the fire was believed to have ignited at the rear of the property on the garage side of the sleepout.
