Sky Finally Starts To Roll Out 2TB Sky Q HDR Upgrade Boxes

Namely that the HDR support wouldn’t work with some of the Sky Q boxes already installed in subscribers’ homes. Particularly problematic, it turned out, were some of Sky’s early 2TB Sky Q boxes - specifically those 2TB models with Hardware Version numbers 32B0XX. For while Sky was able to start sending out replacement boxes for non-HDR 1TB Sky Q receivers pretty much right away, a quirk with Sky’s Customer Services systems meant that it wasn’t possible to process replacements for affected 2TB boxes. Happily, Sky has been in touch today to say that this issue with the upgrade 2TB boxes has now been resolved, and the broadcaster is now able to “roll out the upgrade journey for customers who have registered their interest with 2TB boxes that aren’t HDR compatible.”People with 2TB Sky Q boxes that can't play HDR can finally order an upgrade. And we can apparently expect way more HDR shows to be added in the coming months, as well as live HDR sport in 2021.
