Sixty checkpoints in anti-burglary operationBid to thwart traveling gangs ahead of burglary seasonGARDAI across Galway carried out 60 checkpoints over the weekend as part of an anti-burglary initiative. The operation targeted areas in the north and east of the county including Tuam, Athenry, Loughrea and Ballinasloe. Over November 8 and 9, garda members search 11 vehicles and two men were arrested on foot of outstanding warrants. Operation Thor actively targets organised crime gangs and repeat offenders through co-ordinated crime prevention and enforcement activity based on intelligence and the latest burglary trends.
