KUALA LUMPUR: Sixteen tahfiz schools in the city have formed their respective ‘tahfiz firemen squad’ to prevent fire-related incidents at tahfiz and religious schools in Kuala Lumpur. City Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman said they have recorded the presence of 35 tahfiz schools in KL. Sixteen of the schools have already formed their own squads and we have urged the other three to follow suit. Apart from tahfiz schools, there are also 85 religious schools and a ‘pondok’ school in KL. The authorities have recorded 31 fire-related cases involving tahfiz schools so far this year.
